Syrinx aruanus  Linnaeus,1758

There are two local forms of this shell. The southern shells (Perth to Augusta in Western Australia) are much smoother and do not display the sutural grooves of the larger northern shells (Geraldton through to Northern Territory and Queensland). The tropical northern shells always show some growth lines and wear on the spire.
Please note that shipping via Sea Mail is recommended, as these shells are usually quite heavy (over 5kg for larger shells). Info on shipping prices available on request for each individual specimen.

Occasionally egg cases of Syrinx aruanus wash up on the beach, often including some very small juvenile shells. These pristine juveniles are superb comparative objects for display alongside the large adult shells - a great addition to any collection.
