white MOP inside and out. These rarely seen and fabulous display items
are an enormous size of over 20cm (8") - probably the largest polished shells
available anywhere. The beautifully curved and glossy iridescent XL Turbos
are perfect for interior design, as a stunning single display items or
additions to
white / off-white shell arrangements. Although these XL Turbos would offer
superb and
substantially thick MOP material for jewellers
or
mosaicists, etc., it would be a real shame to cut up these lovely shells for anything.

PEARL SHELL
NATURAL SMALL - also available in a smaller size, the popular individual
pearl oyster halves
come from commercial pearl farms. Pinctada maxima are the type of
oyster that produce the famous
cultured South Sea Pearls and are approx. 9-10cm (3.5-4") in diameter,
with beautiful white and shiny MOP (mother-of-pearl) inside. The rough
natural outer surface and brittle lips are trimmed to avoid
cracking.
Much in demand for shell displays, the MOP is a great source material for inlay,
carving, and other craft work.

PEARL SHELL
NATURAL LARGE -
are individual pearl oyster halves from
commercial pearl farms (Pinctada maxima). These oysters produce the famous
cultured South Sea Pearls and the large ones measure approx. 15cm (6")
and up, with beautiful white and shiny MOP (mother-of-pearl) inside. The rough
natural outer surface and brittle lips are often trimmed back to avoid
cracking.
Great shells for displays, the thick MOP is also much in demand for inlay,
carving and other craft work, for instrument makers,
mosaicists, etc. Let us know if you need these shells for this purpose and
we will select shells that are as flat as possible. Large matched halves are also

Philippines, polished on both sides. These lovely trimmed oyster halves are also cut from Pinctada maxima
- but with the typical distinct yellow "Goldlip" coloured rim typical for

- laser cut to
show the interior chamber structure. Now available
in 12cm (5") size, these split chambered Nautilus pompilius have the typical exotic tiger-stripe pattern
on the outside and have been opened to
show the interior chamber structure. Please note that these are available
as single halves only and that they may have some minor damage to some of
the internal walls and structure. This usually happens while cutting the
Nautilus and it is practically impossible to get an absolutely perfect
specimen of these for that reason. |

innermost whorls than the larger specimens. These Nautilus pompilius
